Legendary portuguese death/grind outfit Holocausto Canibal will release it’s forthcoming album GOREFILIA in April 2012 through Xtreem Music [Hour Of Penance, Kronos, etc]. In a recently interview conducted by SoundZone Magazine bassist Z. Pedro talks about Gorefilia artwork.

“Once again all artwork was handled by Luís Rodrigues , who already worked with us in “Visceral Massacre Memorabilia” (released through Despise the Sun Records, Italy) and also in various merchandising lines (Gore for Passion Not For Fashion, Bizarre Love, Self Torture and Grind, Grinders Union) among other projects“, Z. Pedro states.

“The idea for the new album was to create a scenario where the Virgin Mary is represented as an acrotomophilic deity/idol, representing the sexual devotion to amputated corpses and to the unconditional motherly love (holding an aborted fetus on her arms)”, he continues.

“In fact, the key lines of the whole image were based on holy art with the single purpuse of creating that acrotomophilic idolatry, despite Holocausto Canibal’s anti-religion beliefs.”

He also granted that, like other Holocausto Canibal releases, GOREFILIA will have two different covers, one censored (seen below) and one not censored (yet to be unveilled).

According to a press release, “Gorefilia will showcase HOLOCAUSTO CANIBAL’s more brutal and intense, songwriting, with songs varying from one to three minutes without fillers, [with] influences from bands like CANNIBAL CORPSE, early DERANGED, NAPALM DEATH, SUFFOCATION, CARCASS”. The 18-song effort was recorded at 213 Studios in Portugal and was mixed and mastered at Hertz Studio (BEHEMOTH, VADER, KRONOS, DECAPITATED, ABORTED) in Bialystok, Poland.”

Holocausto Canibal is confirmed for Jurassic Club Fest 2012, set to take place between 4-6 May at República da Música [ex-Tuatara | Alvalade - Rua do Centro Cultural, 27B] in Lisboa [Portugal]

Other bands playing: Dog Eat Dog, Napalm Death, 7 Seconds, Godfarts, Vera Cruz, Reality Slap, Atentado… among many others to be announced soon.

2012 will be the ground setting year of the Jurassic Fest powered by Vans OTW Music Stage. Jurassic Fest has as its purpose to bring the best Punk, Rock, Hardcore and Metal bands in the world as well as offering Portugal’s finest in these music genres.

Holocausto Canibal is scheduled to play Saturday, May 5th just before Napalm Death and this will be the very first live appearance in the south of Portugal promoting the new “Gorefilia” album.

Holocausto Canibal has inked a worldwide record deal with Xtreem Music

National release will be handled by Raising Legends and Raging Planet Records.

The band’s fourth full-length album, “Gorefilia”, will be released during April 2012. The album was recorded at 213 Studio [Heavenwood, Grunt] and mastered / mixed at Hertz Studios [Behemoth, Decapitated, Vader]. Some changes can be expected regarding the sound and lyrical content, but keeping intact the musical filthiness supported by the repulsive imagery which always made us (in)famous through our 15 years of existence.

Commenting, bassist Z. Pedro said: ”Back in 1997 when Holocausto Canibal was born, bands such as Incantation, Vader, Deranged, Immolation, Deeds Of Flesh… were not only an influence to the sound which we were creating, they also had released material though the legendary death metal label Repulse Records. This label became Xtreem Music a few years ago and is still releasing brutal music, gathering over 100 releases so far, being “Gorefilia” their 108th release.”

Eduardo F. states: ”We’ve known Dave Rotten [Xtreem Music A&R] for over a decade, having in on stage in some gigs as special guest and we also shared stage with Avulsed in several European festivals. Adding to this, a release history of more than 100 titles, make us strongly believe that Xtreem Music is the reliable and hardworking label that we were looking for.”

Regarding the national release, it will be handled by Raging Planet Records along with Raising Legends Productions.

Diogo P. says: “After some search and several proposals, we chose these guys since they show some serious commitment with their artists and all the other things related to a band’s work and progress. It’s a team of experienced and reliable people and with proofs given in the scene, we couldn’t expect more for the Portuguese release.”

The national version of “Gorefilia” will have some minor changes compared to the worldwide release so stay tunned and get ready to acquire both versions!
